ITMITMENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING PARTNERSPrepare your RFQ

YOUR DRAWING. A CLEAR MANUFACTURING ROUTE.

CNC machined components with a defined production brief

A useful machining enquiry explains what the part must do, which features locate it and how it will be accepted. ITM coordinates engineering requirements, partner manufacturing and inspection planning for custom machined components, with the production route selected around the individual drawing.

The component families include housings, sleeves, rings and parts for precision assemblies, as well as cast or forged blanks requiring machining. Manufacturing is coordinated through partner facilities. The selected process, facility and acceptance checks are agreed for each project.

FROM REQUIREMENTS TO ACCEPTANCE

Define the part.
Agree the route.

01

Match the route to the component

A housing, sleeve or structural component can present different requirements for its blank and subsequent machining. Identify the material and whether a cast or forged starting form is specified. The enquiry should distinguish mandatory process requirements from features where the production route can be discussed with the manufacturing partner.

02

Define interfaces and functional surfaces

Bores, mounting faces, threads and locating features often determine how the component fits into an assembly. Mark the critical dimensions, datums and surface requirements on the drawing. For a part with several related features, explain which relationships control assembly or operation so the inspection plan can address them.

03

Make acceptance part of the brief

Agree the checks and records before production. Specify whether the order needs dimensional results for identified features or other documentation required by your specification. Available measurement methods are confirmed per project. The delivery brief also covers quantity, packaging, requested date and the approved destination.

START WITH A USEFUL BRIEF

Prepare a machined component RFQ

  • Part drawing or CAD model, revision and assembly context.
  • Material specification and any required cast or forged blank.
  • Critical bores, mounting faces, datums and geometric tolerances.
  • Required finish, treatments and acceptance documentation.
  • Quantity, expected repeat orders and packaging requirements.
  • Requested delivery date, destination and confidentiality requirements.

BEFORE YOUR ENQUIRY

Questions about your component

Can I enquire about machining a cast or forged blank?

Yes. Housings and machined castings are an existing ITM component family. Provide the blank specification and finished-part drawing so the project and manufacturing route can be assessed.

Is there a standard tolerance for every component?

Acceptance requirements are defined by your drawing and agreed for the order. Critical features, suitable measurement methods and the required records are reviewed for the specific project.

Who chooses the manufacturing and inspection route?

ITM coordinates the project with manufacturing partners. The route is selected around geometry, material and acceptance requirements, and the facility and checks are agreed for the order.
